Essie Chinchilly
Essie Chinchilly is the grey neutral that started the whole trend of greige polish for me. Chinchilly is a grey jelly that seems to look great on a lot of skin tones. Sometimes grey can look to brown or green, but Chinchilly just seems to have a crisp plain grey shade that I love. I wish I loved the formula as much as the color though. As will most of my Essie polish, the application is less than desirable and requires a light hand. This is 4 thin coats of Essie Chinchilly followed by a single coat of nubar Diamont.

Zoya Reva with Zoya Trixie
One one my favorite things to do with polish is funky looking gradients with silver. Zoya Reva was the perfect base to start this look with. I had worn Reva for a few days and decided to add a little Zoya Trixie to the tips. Working one nail at a time I put a stripe of Trixie across the top of the nail and pulled it down the nail with a small flat angled brush. I picked up a little loose glitter and dotted a few pieces on while Trixie was still drying. The look was finished with a coat of Zoya Armor. It was so flashy I could stop looking down at my nail all day!
What are your thoughts on gradients with silver? Love them or leave them?

Nail art with Zoya Dana, Kieko, and Breezi
Yesterday I posted the base of this manicure, Essie Turquoise and Caicos covered by a coat of Julep Melissa. I wanted to keep wearing it, so I added a little nail art. First I stamped a design from one of my Mash nail plates with white polish. With my dotting tools I placed a few dots with Zoya Dana, Kieko and Breezi. To my amazement I had a few gems that perfectly complemented the polish so on those went too! I finished the look with a coat of sparkle polish. I loved this look for an accent nail, not sure I could pull this off on all of them though. The colors and the sparkle all blended so well together, I couldn't stop staring at it!

Essie Turquoise & Caicos with Julep Melissa
Essie Turquoise & Caicos - indoor lighting |
So this isn't a new color, Essie Turquoise & Caicos was part of the 2010 Resort Collection. Regardless, it is one of my favorite summer colors, especially on my toes! As with all my Essie polishes, application is a pain and I needed 4 coats to get rid of the visible nail line and to give the polish a uniform finish. I can overlook that only because the color is just beautiful, part jelly / part creme. This was 4 coats of T&C followed by 1 coat of nubar Diamont.
After 2 days I added Julep Melissa over the top. It made it look a little like Zoya Zuza, which I have yet to get my hands on. I can't believe how 1 coat of Julep Melissa just made this color shine. It was brilliant in the sun. I added some additional nail art on this combo, so more to come!

Zoya Anaka
Zoya Ananka in natural light |
On Zoya's website, I think Anaka is shown a bit darker than it applies on the nail. From the moment I put it on, I loved it. Anaka is a fabulous color for toes, since it shimmers in the sunlight but not too bright for the office if you can wear peep toes to work. It is a darker purple and pink base, almost fuchsia maybe? In the sun Anaka shines with red, gold, and blue microglitter that you can see in the picture below. This is 2 coats of Anaka, 3 would probably make it a littler darker and deeper if you like that. I topped this with 1 coat of Zoya Armor.

Zoya Polish Party
Last night I had the great pleasure of hanging out with a bunch of lovely ladies from around the area. We don't get together often, but when we do there is fun to be had as well as free flowing drinks! Given the Earth Day promo going on, I decided to load up the drawers of my polish cabinet and head down to meet the ladies last night. This way we could all look through the colors and decide what polishes to add to our Zoya order.
I think we had over 100 bottles of Zoya and another 75 randoms. So many colors, so little time!
Thank you ladies for a wonderful time last night!

Zoya Reva
Zoya Reva in natural light |
Zoya Reva is from the Summer Sunshine Collection released in 2011. That collection contains many of my favorite flecked metallics. Zoya does such a fantastic job with those types of polish, never a disappointment. Reva is a raspberry toned polish with flecks of gold, copper and red. In the sun it really just shines and jumps off your nail. This is 2 coats of Reva, although I think 3 would have been better, followed by 1 coat of nubar Diamont.

Zoya Brizia
Zoya Brizia in natural light |
Zoya Brizia is the purple sister of my favorite polish, Zoya Pasha. In some light it is purple, sometimes it is pink, other times it is grey with a warm brown tone. If you find Pasha to be too yellow for you liking and prefer something cooler, check out Brizia! The formula on Brizia is fantastic, almost perfect in just 2 coats with minimal brush strokes. There is a bit of a frosted shimmer, and it shines a little blue and silver. This is 2 coats of Zoya Brizia, and 1 coat of Zoya Armor. The wear on this polish is astounding, granted I tend to change mine far before it chips, but this lasted a full week last time I wore it. That is unheard of for me!

Color Club Revvvolution and a comparison to OPI My Private Jet
Color Club Revvvolution in natural light |
I was pretty impressed with it! Not only was it a little easier to apply, but the glitter was also smaller and sparkled a lot more. Plus the base of Revvvolution was a little blacker than the brownish tones of MPJ. This was 2 coats of Color Club Revvolution and 1 coat of nubar Diamont. Check out this rainbow of color!
Of course I had to do a side by side comparison... which one are you liking better?

OPI My Private Jet
OPI My Private Jet in natural light |
This polish had been on my wishlist for a while, and I came across it while browsing a local supply store a few weeks ago. My Private Jet is a dark black, almost brownish base with holographic glitter throughout. It was originally released 2007, discontinued, and then released again. However the second release did not look as smooth or contain the same holographic glitter. I believe this is the second release when comparing other swatches. It went on relatively smooth, but as with most OPI polish on me, and the amount of glitter in the polish it chipped pretty quickly. This is 2 coats of OPI My Private Jet, topped with 1 coat of nubar Diamont.
Tomorrow I will be comparing this with Color Club's Revvvolution. I was pretty surprised by the results!

Zoya Calypso
Zoya Calypso in natural light |
I think I have said before that I am not a huge fan of orange, probably because I just have a hard time finding the right shades. Zoya Calyspo is a soft orange, almost apricot colored shimmer that doesn't scream at you. From all the blogs I read, it is obvious that tangerine and citrus colors are popular this summer. So if you are looking for a quieter way to introduce a little orange into your palette I would recommend Calypso. It is a little sheer, so this is 3 coats of Calypso followed by 1 coat of Zoya Armor. Application was easy, but a tad bit streaky so don't overwork the polish when applying.

Zoya Breezi with a twist
I was completely in heaven tonight, watching the severe weather on the online dash cams of the storm chasers while painting my nails. Since I had a little time to sit around I decided to try a stamp, and am actually pretty happy with how it turned out. This is 2 coats of Zoya Breezi, 1 coat of nubar Diamont, and a stamp and tip stripe with Zoya Raven. I followed with 1 coat of Zoya Armor since I have less streaking with Armor.
It is kind of fancy for a day of cleaning the basement, but my nails will look great while doing it!

Sally Hansen Grape Going
Sally Hansen Grape Going in natural light |
Sally Hansen Grape Going, part of the Insta-Dri collection, is a violet duochrome that shines blue, purple and silver depending on the angle and the light. I am a fan of the Insta-Dri line by Sally Hansen. They are great for when I am on the go and need a quick change. A quick base coat, 1-2 coats of an Insta-Dri color and 1 coat of nubar Diamont and the manicure is dry before I can finish singing along to Justin Bieber's new song, Boyfriend. Yes, I am publicly admitting that I love that song, I am a huge Justin Timberlake fan and this is as close as I get to a new song from him, sounds just like him. Plus it was written by Mike Posner who is from Michigan, so I will just chalk it up to supporting my local peeps, hell I am almost to Canada at this point.
I digress! Grape Going is a little more sheer than most of the Insta-Dri line. This is 2 coats of Grape Going, but it probably could have used a third to add depth. I topped it with a single coat of nubar Diamont.
