4th of July inspired Zoya mani
We have a bunch of people coming to our house to watch a neighborhood golf course's fireworks tomorrow night. Given that, I am going to celebrate this weekend! I took the risk of doing my nails last night in hopes they would still be okay on Saturday, so cross your fingers! I starter this look with Zoya America, and used Zoya Ibiza for the blue. Next, I applied red, silver and blue foil strips across the nail and finished with 3 foil stars. I let the mani dry pretty well before I put the top coat on to ensure I didn't pull any polish color onto the foils. Sadly, the red foil strip is slowly fading as the day goes on. Are you doing any fun designs for the 4th?

Zoya America
Zoya America is a super creamy, opaque perfect red. America is pretty neutral in terms of pulling warm or cold so it is pretty flattering on most skin tones. I am using this as a base for an upcoming 4th of July weekend manicure, and what better color than America for that! This is 2 coats of Zoya America, and a single coat of Zoya Armor. America is pretty shiny without a topcoat, but when you add one the polish goes to a whole new level!

Zoya Sarah
I love Zoya Sarah! I know the photo doesn't show the sparkle well, but it has the best red sparkle in it. The base of Sarah is a cool red, almost with a deep fuchsia tone to it. Sarah is from the 2010 Winter Fire and Ice collection and is one of the most common colors on my toes. This is 3 coats of Zoya Sarah, followed by a single coat of nubar Diamont.

Zoya Lara
Zoya Lara is part of the 2012 Summer Beach collection. Lara really pops on your fingers and toes, not like a neon would, but just as a really bright pink. I didn't find Lara to be to girly pink, so it was a great fit for me. I just don't go for a bubble gum pink. Lara applied great and was totally opaque in 2 coats. I followed with a single coat of Zoya Armor.

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue and BLU
Look at that electric blue! The photo doesn't even capture how bright this combination was in person. I have worn Sally Hansen Pacific Blue many times by itself. For this manicure I wanted something a little different so I added a single coat of Sally Hansen BLU over the top. BLU on it's own requires about 4 coats, but over Pacific Blue it was awesome! This was 2 coats of Pacific Blue, 1 coat of BLU, and 1 coat of nubar Diamont.

Orly Rage
Another champagne metallic!
I reviewed Sally Hansen Time to Shine a few weeks ago, and Orly Rage is
very similar in color. If Time to Shine
was too gold for your taste, Orly Rage might be a better option for you. They are both very similar in application and
finish, Rage seems to have a bit more of a silver shimmer to it than Time to
Shine. Time to Shine has a little more
depth of color, whereas Rage is a bit more reflective. This swatch is 2 coats of Orly Rage, followed
by a single coat of nubar Diamont. I
don’t think you can go wrong with either color, do you have a preference?

Essie Peach Daiquiri
Essie Peach Daiquiri is a beautiful coral crème shade with
just a hint of the Essie jelly finish that they are known for. It was far more opaque that most of the Essie
polish that I own, making the nail line disappear in just two coats. Peach Daiquiri was almost shiny enough to
wear without a top coat, but I did finish it off with a single coat of nubar
Diamont. As far as the shade of coral,
it seemed to fall more the pink side than orange on my skin tone.

Essie Lapiz of Luxury, Zoya Caitlin and Zoya Jo comparison
When I put Essie Lapiz of Luxury on the other day I had to
see how it compared to a few of my Zoya’s with a similar shade. Here is Lapiz of Luxury compared to Zoya
Caitlin on my pointer and ring fingers, and Zoya Jo on my pinkie. You can see Caitlin is a bit darker, more
dusty or grey. Jo is close match, only
without the jelly look but with the addition of a little shimmer. I have to say that if was in the mood for
something blueish I would be reaching out for Zoya’s Jo. Which one do you like best?
Essie Lapiz of Luxury
Essie Lapiz of Luxury is a mix between cornflower blue and
lilac. In some light it is more blue,
some more purple… I guess that makes it blurple? As for application it is a typical Essie
formula that is somewhat jelly so for me, I prefer 3 solid coats to help cover
the visible nail line. My bottle was a
little thin and if I wasn’t careful I ended up with some pooling at the cuticle
line. This is 3 thicker coats of Lapiz
of Luxury followed by a single coat of nubar Diamont.

Zoya Tracie Remix
I have a lot of flowers planted at my house, and often times they inspire me to create fun color combos. I was watering the flowers last week since it has been about 80 and sunny with no rain for weeks, and found some of my iris plants in full bloom. After I was done, I went inside to grab my camera and take a few shots.
When I got back inside and started going through the pictures I just loves the contrast of the green leaves and the violet flower. Considering I was wearing Zoya Tracie at the time, it was the perfect canvas to add a little sparkle to replicate this a bit. I have an old random purple/blue glitter from an craft fair a few years ago that fit the bill perfectly.

Zoya Tracie
Zoya Tracie |
Look at that, a shimmery avocado or pistachio green. I can't decide which one it takes after. Maybe the best is actually pistachio pudding, since that doesn't lean as lime colored as an actual pistachio nut. Of the 2012 Zoya Beach collection, Tracie was the only one with a shimmer. What a beautiful silver shimmer it was, too! Although I could see this color being a beautiful cream as well. Tracie was opaque in just 2 coats and applied pretty easily. I followed those 2 coats with a single coat of Zoya Armor.

Nail art with Zoya Kristen
More fun nail art! I put Zoya Kristen on as a base a few weeks ago. Like I typically am, I was bored with it in a day or two. Out came a random blue glitter and some white nail art tape! I taped off the top half of the nail on a diagonal stripe and applied the blue glitter. After it was a little dry, I applied the striping tape. Using a tweezers and a dot of topcoat, I stuck the crystals on. Over the top I applied a single coat of nubar Diamont to help even out the design.

Sally Hansen Time to Shine
Sally Hansen Time to Shine in natural light |
Every once in a while I love a shiny metallic. Time to Shine is a bronze metallic that is opaque in just two coats. It applies so easily, and doesn't clump like some metallic polishes can do. There are flecks of silver, gold, copper, and champagne all through through the polish which you can see on the close up. If you are looking for a fun metallic neutral Time to Shine is a safe bet. This is two coats of Sally Hansen Time to Shine followed by a single coat of nubar Diamont.
