China Glaze Ruby Red Pumps

An oldie, but a goodie today!  This was originally released in 2001 and was one of the first China Glaze polishes I bought.  China Glaze Ruby Red Pumps is a deep red jelly with super sparkly glitter.  This is 3 coats of Ruby Red Pumps, and you can see a little visible nail line.  However, the shine and sparkle in this polish definitely camouflages that.  You need at least 2 top coats to smooth this finish out.  Here is another view of the spectacular sparkle.

Zoya Kennedy with butter London Tart with a Heart

I had such a great combo the other day I had to share it sooner than later.  Winter is my favorite time to pull out my ivory and white sweaters to wear with a comfortable pair of jeans.  I don't typically pair dark polishes with white sweaters, so I reached out to Zoya Kennedy which ironically is from the winter 2011 feel collection.  This is 2 coats of Zoya Kennedy, an accent nail of butter London's Tart with a Heart, and a single coat of nubar Diamont.

Essie lil boa peep

Well Essie is a little late to the magnetic party, but they brought a few great colors with them.  I am a sucker for a good greige, throw in metallic and I am all over it.  This is a single coat of Essie lil boa peep, and I will probably love wearing it just like this.  However, the one new thing Essie brought was the new magnet design, which I am thinking is supposed to look like scales since it's the reptile collection.  I found the magnet to be really powerful and easy to use.  I can't wait to try this magnet on a few of my other magnetic polishes.

Julep Maya

I have a few Julep polishes left to swatch.  While I love the colors, the formula and bottle are just not appealing to me.  For some odd reason it just peels off in a full sheet.  That said, I do love this color.  It is Julep Maya, a light shimmery champagne color.  It matches my skin tone so well that it feels like a neutral with an extra pop.  Julep Maya reminds me of Zoya Hermina, with Maya pulling a bit more pink.  This is 2 coats of Julep Maya, with a single coat of nubar Diamont.

We've joined Facebook with Zoya Lotus with China Glaze Prism

Well after Zoya ran their last promo, which expires today (details below), the request was made by a few that I have the swatches on Facebook too.  Good thing I actually started to work on it a few months ago, it made that request a little easier.  Feel free to head on over to the Color Me Jules Facebook page, like and share it, and keep up with all the new swatches.

I reviewed this color, Zoya Lotus, back in March 2012 and had trouble getting its true color then.  I still think it is really hard to capture in a photo since the shimmery warmth still doesn't come out in this swatch either.  However I really wanted to share this swatch because of the great pairing with China Glaze Prism.  I love the way they look together!  Zoya Lotus applies so smooth, this is 2 coats of Lotus.  For the accent nail I did a single coat of Lotus, followed by 2 coats of China Glaze Prism.  I am going to throw in a detailed shot of Prism here so you can see the mutlitude of colors that make up this glitter.  It is so fun to throw this out there as an accent.  Do you have a favorite accent you find yourself reaching towards?

A fun rainbow of Zoya!

Do you remember those days in art class as a kid where you would color a piece of paper with the brightest colors you could find and then colored over the top with a black crayon, and then etched out a picture or design uncovering all those colors underneath?  This is totally what this manicure reminded me of!  I love Zoya Raven to begin with, who doesn't love a shimmery black?  But when you add stripes of Breezi, Kieko, Reagan and Wednesday underneath it really does come pop.  I free handed the strips of color and let it dry thoroughly and then applied a few random foil strips.  After quickly painting Raven over the top, I removed them in the reverse order I put them on to assure I didn't mess with the stripe edges.  I took these before I added a top coat since I was so excited!

Bringing out the bling, Zoya Reagan and a little sparkle

I already loved Zoya Reagan, so what could possibly make it better?  A sparkly gradient, that's what!  I had Reagan on for a few days and decided to spice up the look with an accent nail using a few shades of crystals.  After sorting through my Helmer, I found just enough shades to cover the whole nail from pink, purple to silver.  I only did one row at a time, but was happy with the turn out.  My husband on the other had hated it.  He couldn't stand the feel of all that attached to nail.  I am surprised he didn't try to pick it off in my sleep!  I don't think it was really durable enough for everyday wear, but for a special occasion I will be doing this again.

Zoya Pinta and Trixie

I needed something fun to jazz up Christmas this year and I didn't want to do the traditional red/green combo.  Zoya Pinta had been sitting on my desk for a while, and Trixie is pretty much permanently out.  As always, Pinta went on super smooth, 2 coats for full coverage.  I used foil strips to tape off a design and covered it with Trixie.  You have to let it dry a little bit before adding a top coat or Trixie will start to fade into Pinta a bit.  I probably could have waited a bit longer.  Can't wait to do more designs like this, it was super easy!
