China Glaze Ruby Red Pumps

An oldie, but a goodie today!  This was originally released in 2001 and was one of the first China Glaze polishes I bought.  China Glaze Ruby Red Pumps is a deep red jelly with super sparkly glitter.  This is 3 coats of Ruby Red Pumps, and you can see a little visible nail line.  However, the shine and sparkle in this polish definitely camouflages that.  You need at least 2 top coats to smooth this finish out.  Here is another view of the spectacular sparkle.

We've joined Facebook with Zoya Lotus with China Glaze Prism

Well after Zoya ran their last promo, which expires today (details below), the request was made by a few that I have the swatches on Facebook too.  Good thing I actually started to work on it a few months ago, it made that request a little easier.  Feel free to head on over to the Color Me Jules Facebook page, like and share it, and keep up with all the new swatches.

I reviewed this color, Zoya Lotus, back in March 2012 and had trouble getting its true color then.  I still think it is really hard to capture in a photo since the shimmery warmth still doesn't come out in this swatch either.  However I really wanted to share this swatch because of the great pairing with China Glaze Prism.  I love the way they look together!  Zoya Lotus applies so smooth, this is 2 coats of Lotus.  For the accent nail I did a single coat of Lotus, followed by 2 coats of China Glaze Prism.  I am going to throw in a detailed shot of Prism here so you can see the mutlitude of colors that make up this glitter.  It is so fun to throw this out there as an accent.  Do you have a favorite accent you find yourself reaching towards?

China Glaze Fast Track

This is China Glaze Fast Track from the Hunger Games.  It is a very nude or beige with gold micro glitter dispersed throughout.  The formula was a bit thin, which was fine since I needed 3 coats for it to be opaque.  Overall I was happy with the shade, but there was nothing really "wow" about it that will make me reach for it again.

China Glaze Pull Me Close

It almost seems like everybody and their brother have a release of magnetic polish now, but I still think that China Glaze is one of the best.  Every once in a while it is fun to put this polish on, especially when it's sunny outside and you can really see the color shift, or cat's eye effect.  As with all my magnetic polish, I start with a coat of Zoya Raven, and then follow with the magnetic coat.  It really seems to make the pattern pop more, given that Raven provides a dark base for contrast.  China Glaze Pull Me Close went on flawless, so easy to apply the pattern too, and dried so shiny it almost didn't require a top coat.  I did follow with a single coat of nubar Diamont, and don't forget to let the design dry for a while before applying the top coat so the lines don't drag.

Zoya Lexi with China Glaze Full Spectrum

I feel bad always posting about another great Zoya, but to be truthful, they really just have some great colors!  Zoya Lexi is a really unique pink for people that want something different from the norm.  It has been one of the most difficult polishes to try an capture with my camera.  At first glance it is a dusty rose, but turn your hand and there are streaks of silver, blue and green.  In the blurred photo you might be able to see the twinkle better.  Application is great, minimal brush marks for a frost-like finish.  I applied 2 coats of Zoya Lexi, and followed with a single coat of Zoya Armor.  On the accent nail I did a single coat of China Glaze Full Spectrum with a few sparkles.

China Glaze Sea Spray with Revlon Whimsical

Natural Light

China Glaze Sea Spray is a beautiful muted dusty blue.  If you look close enough you can see a slight pearly shimmer, but you have to catch it in the right light.  Sea Spray is a little thicker than I like, and I will probably add a little thinner to it.  This is 2 coats of China Glaze Sea Spray with 1 coat of nubar Diamont.

I did Sea Spray specifically as a base for another color.  My friend Bridget was asking about Revlon Whimsical, which I just happened to pick up.  Revlon Whimsical is a mix of silver, pink and blue hexagonal glitter, with a few pieces of tiny blue glitter in a very sheer creamy blue base.  I personally think it is probably too sheer to be worn alone and prefer the look over a pastel base.  This was 1 thick coat of Whimsical over the combination above.

China Glaze Magentix - Instant Chemistry

I am loving magnetic polishes lately, it is such a quick and easy way to have an interesting design in a short amount of time.  Once you get the hang of it, it is a relatively easy process.  As with most of the magnetic polishes, I use Zoya Raven underneath, with one thin coat of the magnetic polish followed immediately with the magnet.  China Glaze has their own magnet with a strip, chevron, and star design.  I created this manicure with the striped design, an any other polish magnet will work.  I tested my Nails Inc magnet on this polish and it worked just fine.  Instant Chemistry, as well as the other magnetic polishes, dried very glossy.  Make sure you take extra time to let the polish dry before you apply the topcoat or the design will drag.

I get asked a lot about magnetic polish and it is always a lengthy conversation.  However over on Scrangie's blog, one of my absolute favorites, she takes the time to give you an excellent overview and tutorial.  I love her blog and if you love polish you should really subscribe.
